Mike 2600 Blends

New Crossfaded Bacon Records signing Mike 2600 killing it with a couple of really dope tracks over on the Yeeeah Buddy blog. While Mike and I make wildly different stuff, I’m really into his un-trendy style. I like to think that a lot of the stuff I personally make is likable and useful without bending towards whatever trendy aesthetic is currently in season on the blogs, and Mike’s stuff has that exact same feel. I guess the word I’m looking for is “timeless.” This stuff doesn’t sound like it was made in 2009, 1999, or 1989. It just sounds right, and I’m a big fan of music that isn’t concerned with its timeliness (shout out to folks like Eli Escobar and the Nacho Lovers who I feel are a couple other prime examples of this same artistic ethos). It’s going the fuck down tomorrow at the Barbary with the god DJ Aktive who is legitimately one of the top 5 DJs doing it in Philly right now–technically solid as fuck and definitely knows how to rock a party. Shit is going to be so fucking dope. I can’t wait. It’s also my dude Steve Miller’s birthday from Exit Skateshop so you know we’re getting it the fuck in HARD. As always, open bar from 9 – 11 and only $5 after 10 PM. And we playing skate videos from 9 – 11 to accompany your open bar so come kick it early and wile out late. GYEAH!
