I blogged about this a little over a year ago, but that was before Lil B was the internet sensation he is now so I figured it was a good look to re-up this song that I did with B back in July of 2009. I made a special trip out to the Bay to meet the young bol and get some work done with him and he was truly the most kind, interesting, genuine kid I’ve ever met in this rap game. Spending 10 seconds with B will forever prove to you that everything he does is worth paying attention to… regardless if you like it or not. This song we did is pretty damn silly and I’m not extremely proud of how it turned out, but it is a worthy part of B’s diverse discography and I’m actually really proud to be a part of Lil B’s now classic album “6 Kiss” (even though I get no production credit on it! Hah!). I’ve gotten a lot of good feedback on it from a variety of sources regardless of my own personal feelings about it but it’s definitely kinda crazy to have a song on an album that Soulja Boy has in his top 10 of all time. It’s also the 7th most popular Lil B song on Amazon so clearly people are feeling it.

Anyway, look out for The Based God World Takeover that’s BEEN happening and will likely continue to happen in the coming weeks and months and (hopefully) years.

LONG LIVE THE BASED GOD!

I played a really fun party in LA this past weekend playing a really wide variety of shit (as usual) from Bmore to mainstream House to Dirty South classics. A fairly good 5 minute portion of my rap set was captured on da youtube machine for posterity as well as 2 minutes of Club (and embarassing behind-the-tables dancing by yours truly). Oh well.

Sound quality is surprisingly good. Dark as fuck up in there but it was jumping. Big up to THEE MIKE B and them for hosting the young bol at their banging downtown party MORE ON THE FLOOR!

Any idea who these guys are? Find out after the jump…

Yup! These two goofy looking honkeys are the masterminds behind (the now defunct) PEN & PIXEL, singlehandedly responsible for some of the best rap album covers in the history of rap album covers. Read the interview HERE. It’s really a spectacular interview full of hilarious stories and a methodical, calculated approach to the industry that belies the hokeyness that comes across in so many of their covers. These guys were obviously really smart and built an empire around Photoshopped leopards, diamonds, and Benzes. I’ve posted some of my favorites below taken from the massive collection HERE.

Enjoy!

French Wheat Paste artist “WK Interact”, whose work is pictured above, graces the cover of the current issue of Juxtapoz magazine. Last week the artist was rushed to a Miami hospital during an Art Basel Art Show after allegedly being knocked out by the prolifically destructive graffiti writer “Nekst”. The beef stems from the wall pictured above, which was painted months ago on a bustling NY corner. WK got permission to wheat paste the wall in the daytime over the underlying graffiti of “Wyse”, a crew member of “Nekst”. Both “Wyse”and “Nekst”eventually went back and painted the 2nd image at night.

Whatever you think about the use of violence, the aesthetic of the pictured graffiti or motivations for any of the above, this example makes clear the fact that one thing that separates graffiti from other forms of art is its unwritten code of social norms. If you go over people you may have a problem. For more info…

As over saturated i am with contemporary Jay-zness this is a nice change of pace. This is off of Nigerian Gangster, a Grey album-esque project where Fela Kuti samples where placed under American gangster lyrics. Slow and Funky.

Cassidy Feat. Lil Wayne-Get More Money

This Weezy verse is crazy. Sometimes I forget how nice he is. The young bol from Central High spits that usual glib, gun related cleverness too.

Growing up in East Mount Airy wasn’t always easy. If I wasn’t slangin Lemonade in front of the same church that my Mom would attend Sunday service, I was wettin the whole block up with my slip and slide. Real rap. On an even more positive note though, I got the chance to grow up around the likes of the lovely Santi White(SantoGold) who has begun what music historians will refer to as the “Mount Airy Takeover”. Anyway, check out this track from the upcoming “Notorious” Movie Soundtrack. Kanye produced it and some guy from Brooklyn raps on it. http://www.zshare.net/audio/5209347411056a05/
