07272007: Two Awesome (but Relatively Useless) Blends

Project Pat “Back Clap” Instrumental w/ Jackson 5 “Rockin’ Robin” (Emynd Blend): DOWNLOAD

Honestly, this is a pretty useless blend in the grand scheme of blendom. Despite the song’s obvious awesomeness, you can’t find many people that still play “Back Clap” (if they ever did) and throwing the Jackson 5 acapella on top of this song doesn’t push it over into the odorous realm of MUST PLAY AT ALL HIPSTER PARTIES KITSCH that so many people love right now. But, honestly, that’s perfectly fine with me. This blend just works as far as I’m concerned. The singing is in key with the beat (without ANY timestretching of the vocals), and the melancholy bounce of the beat adds a much different feel to the original J5 treatment. I’m really happy with this stupid little thing and it’s definitely good warm up material and, at a relatively cool 85 bpms, it’ll add some much needed spice to your predictable warm-up sets.

Sufjan Stevens “They Are Night Zombies!” vs J-Kwon “Hood Hop” (Emynd Blend): DOWNLOAD

Another pretty pointless blend that works. Nobody really wants to hear “They Are Night Zombies!” in the club (really ANY Sufjan Stevens), so adding some of the HARDEST DRUMS IN CLUB HISTORY to the song doesn’t really do much except make this song sound totally freaking awesome in my wack ass car (of which, I just blew one of the remaining 2 speakers… that’s right, I’m down to one speaker). But, again, while I don’t expect to hear this in any clubs, I’m really happy with how this turned out. I made it over a year ago now and have probably played it less than 5 times in the presence of other people. The one time I did play it at a party, some indy rock dude was fawning all over me (nh). Anyway, I love this blend, so download it.
