Kardinal Offishal “Swing Your Rags” Freestyle

Ok, so we know Kardi is a beast and he is coming out with some shit with MTV Jams creep #1 Akon. I mean I like Akon, but shit, overexposure is a motherfucker. So “Dangerous” is a cool song but him doing that poppy shit sounds a little bit fraudulent to me. So here he is on that TI beat “Swing Your Rags” and he bodies the shit.

Big shouts to all of our peeps in Toronto, a place we love dearly- Naeel, Diggy, Christian, Andrew, and Vlad. Shout outs are completely unnecessary for a blog post, but thems my peoples.

Young Jeezy “Circulate”

Holy moly this is incredible. Cannon’s on the beat rocking that Billy Paul and Jeezy is killing it. I can’t remember the last time (ever?) I said “This beat is dope, but Jeezy doesn’t really come with it.” If the beat is hitting, Jeezy GOES IN. And even though dude sounds so great on Shawty Redd’s dirty synths, he’s also fully capable of doing his thing on that soulful, soul-sampling ish. But dude is just riding this beat so hard. He sounds perfect on it. So psyched for this album.

Larry Levan Mix- 1979 Paradise Garage

Paradise Garage Nowadays

This thing was killing it at the gym today… Not my usual listen to headbussin’ anthems and squat 400 pounds routine, but such an effective gay disco mix that I caught myself looking at a dude’s ass (nullus).

Also, big up to the smuts that wear push up bras to the gym instead of sports bras, your effort to pleasure men visually is noted, and the world is a better place because of it.

I don’t know how I got this, it was just on my Ipod and I like it. Peep it.

Blaqstarr “Bang Hard”

This Blaqstarr song “BANG HARD” is incredible. It’s not at all what I expected out of him, but he really rides this beat well and makes a heartfelt rap song that still knocks. Super impressed with dude’s versatility right about now.

Zoe & Wayne “I’m Lost”

Living in Philly can be exasperating if you’re not one of these dudes that’s secretly hoping for the resurrection of “EAST COAST RAP, SON!” The airwaves here are dominated by old head DJs that are much more excited to play a boring ass Jay-Z verse on the hottest new Southern single than they are in big upping what’s actually popping inside of Philly or playing what’s hitting for the young folks (whether it be Club/Party music or whatever). This is only tangentially related to the song I’m posting below because the song has nothing to do with Philly and I only say the above with respect to the below song because I can’t understand why there’s all this hype over that boring ass “Jockin’ Jay-Z” song that sounds like Jay-Z going through the motions from 2002 instead of being excited by a freaking weird ass and awesome song like this. And somehow people are still screaming “WAYNE IS OVERRATED!” OK “The Carter III” wasn’t the opus you were expecting, but that album being disappointing doesn’t mean all the awesome songs he’s done are suddenyl less awesome. I mean, on this song, Wayne actually sounds like he’s sippin’ on syrup. And when I say he “sounds like he’s sippin’ on syrup,” I don’t mean it sounds like he’s leaning (because he always sounds like that), but I mean that this is what I imagine the actual ACT OF SIPPIN ON SYRUP would sound like if that act was personified and became man and started rapping. It’s effing awesome.

Big ups to Noz on the heads up. Somebody give him a job so he’s less miserable to talk to on AIM.

New Federation Riddem: GUTTERBALL!

Kenny Meez from the untouchable Federation Sound camp (RIP DISCO D!) leaked the Federation Gutterball riddem and it’s effing massive. Put all your weird electro house MP3s away and play some grimey uptempo dancehall ish. Peep “Excellent Hole” below and if you’re feeling it, scoop the whole riddem just beneath that.

ElectroCute, classic, shoulda went triple…

THIS ISN'T NO DAMN GAME IN HERE

Yeah… So I don’t know if this came out in 2005 or 2006, I just know it’s kinda old and hot as shit. There are a couple tracks on here that aren’t exactly timeless, but I listened to this mix today while I was uh… doing absolutely nothing and I still really like it. This mix has insane amounts of doo-dahs, blends, remixes, doo-dahs, exclusives, genres, and just a higher production value than a large majority of mixes. You see how much I’m hyping this jawn? I’ve decided that since it’s mad old, that it’s ok to praise my (our) own work this much. Not to mention the fact that the electro on it is good old school electro and not this bloggy new school crap. But seriously, this mix bangs and we were doing this electro thing while you were still in the marching band.

Oh yeah, I’m going to find the oldest picture of me and sparks on my photobucket since zshare is taking so damn long.

50 Cent “Sincerely Yours, Southside”

Ok, so this is a few weeks old now. But if you are a dj who plays hip-hop and/or classics this is an important mixtape to dl. It’s got 50 rhymin over looped up intros of a lot dj set staples (if you’re from philly or uh… nyc) that could be extremely useful if you are going back and forth from raps to classics etc.

My favorites on the mix are the Prince jawn, Before I Let Go, and Rising to the Top. On other tracks he spits over Heartbreak, Be Thankful, and even a Stevie Wonder joint. In other words- ALL TYPES OF ILL SHIT.

This is a lot of fun, and while he’s not destroying tracks, he still manages to remind me of him back when he was truly nasty.
