1st & 15th (Pretty Much) Mix Series: Volume 1: Bo Bliz “Best of T.I.”

Included are all of his best joints from “I’m Serious” to “T.I. vs. T.I.P.” The tape is arranged album by album, except I threw “Big Shit Poppin'” on there with “King”, because in my opinion, “T.I. vs. T.I.P.” was trash. If you’ve only listened to dude’s hits, you’ve been fucking up, and this mix should acquaint you with a little of what you’ve been missing.

I left off any tracks from his new album, because you really need to buy that shit… The beats and the focus weren’t really there for “T.I. vs. T.I.P.”, but he’s back on his grizzly for this new shit.

T.I. can do sentimental joints, club bangers, street anthems, and joints for the ladies. I put a little bit of all that on there. Right now it’s one long mix, but I may also track it out. The tracklist is in the comments section on the ID3 tags.

Peter Beste Houston Pics

Photographer Peter Beste has posted some incredible pics that capture Houston rap culture’s most candid moments. Here’s what he has to say about the pictures and definitely go peep them:

My hometown of Houston, Texas, also known as the Third Coast, is a world all its own. This city is responsible for birthing the Geto Boys, UGK (from nearby Port Arthur), DJ Screw, and the codeine-based drink known as Syrup. Producing an uncompromising and innovative sound all their own, many of these artists existed under the radar for nearly twenty years despite a virtual absence of press outside of the deep south. These photographs are my attempt to bring attention to the music, lifestyle and culture of a very exciting time and place. — Peter Beste

Behold…. The Lobster Cheesesteak

$12.99 @ Chickie’s and Pete’s in South Philly. Very much worth it. Had it with a pint of Victory. Is life good? Of course it is. I banged it out with some hot sauce, ketchup, and the red pepper you can see. Sorry for the pic quality, its a phone pic.

A Few New Joints and an Old Party Break

First, “C’mon Baby” by Funk Flex, the “ghetto version”, its a great tempo to have a party break at and lots of fun to mix.

Funk Flex “C’mon Baby”

The next is Jadakiss’ new joint with Jigga. Look Jada can fucking rap, I’m on the second verse, Jada is killing it and Jay-Z still hasn’t rapped. If he got the third that’s fine with me, but if not that’s fine too. Jadakiss is a beast. Jay-Z can ad-lib ’til he’s hungry again.

Jadakiss ft. Jay-Z “Who Run This”

Ludacris is rapping hard on this DJ Cannon beat. Cannon’s been giving the South’s hottest mc’s soulful beats, that seems like his role, and its a good one. Mayweather on the cameo with way less charisma than Iron Mike.

Ludacris “Undisputed”

Kanye is trying to do some other shit on this one, but sure… I’m with it. You probably have this, but I thought I’d throw it up here regardless.

Emynd & Bo Bliz “CROSSFADED BACON EP” FHZ013

I’m posting the “one sheet” for this because I’m too lazy to write more BS. God I hate writing this stuff, but I guess it’s a necessary evil. Anyway, should be up on turntablelab and other fine stores soon. Should be going digital through Unruly in a couple weeks as well.

By the way, the covers look amazing. You can’t tell from this picture, but the cardboard sleeve is a beautiful cityscape photograph of Philly by the extremely talented Michael Penn and the cardboard sleeve will be covered with a plastic sleeve with all the graphics and text, including the drawings of Emynd and Bo Bliz by big homie Vlad from Toronto. Looks and sounds absolutely beautiful.

Big ups to Casi and Dan for putting it together, Derrick at Bustbright for the design, Starkey for the mixing/mastering, and me and Bo for killing it.

Benja Styles Reggae RMX: T-Pain “I Can’t Believe It”

pain

So T-Pain’s new joint is not very club friendly, but Philly DJ Benja Styles made a really nice remix that solves this problem. The beat sounds very much like the Showtime Riddim, but I’m not sure what it actually is. I played it on friday and it got a very good reaction. T-Pain’s next album should be crazy and what’s even crazier is I found out dude just turned 23! Damn!

DL THIS BANGA!

Don’t Sleep!!

Promo Youtube for Ghostdad‘s party in Boston where Bliz and I make a quick appearance at the end. DON’T SLEEP!!

Prinse the Fly Guy “Go DJ”

Prinse the Fly Guy is a rapper Unruly Records recently signed and this Bmore/Rap joint is definitely gonna wile the club out. A “Push It” synth melody runs through it as Prinse gets his autotune on, shouting out K-Swift, and riding the beat. Dope, useful track.
