Go to this if the snow ever stops in Philly.

A couple months back, my folks at Unruly Records were asked to get some remixes of “Video Phone” together. They shouted at me to get one together and I thought the jawn would sound cool sped up to Bounce speed. I didn’t want to use any samples in the remix, so that’s why the drums don’t have the authentic “Drag Rap” or “Brown Beat” sounds, but I think it’s a fun remix nonetheless. Additionally, this remix is a bit a interpolation of the classic Bounce joint by Big Daddie and Bossman’s “Ya Heard Me Part 2” which I’ve also posted below. You should be able to hear the similarities when you listen to both. Hope you enjoy!

Dude, if you want to make people excited about buying a physical product, THIS is how the fuck you do it. Just pre-ordered both the vinyl and the cd from Fifth Element. I don’t even care if the music sucks (everything I’ve heard has been good so far though!), the packaging is amazing. This shit is officially available for purchase everywhere February 16th. Support artists with your money!

If you’re not up on the homie Ted Smooth and his remixes, you need to be. He fairly routinely takes an already popping club song and gives it some classic NY flavor. Definitely useful in certain situations. His whole library of downloads is up in the link below. My favorites are the “Daddy’s Home” remix with a couple verses from Jadakiss, the already classic “Blame It” remix with the “Down for My Ni**az” horns, and a great Dirty Money “Angels” remix. Follow dude on Twitter to stay up to date with his new heat.

Sean Fennesy just posted about 200 Just Blaze productions for download. It’s a fairly comprehensive collection though I’m sure he’s missing a couple joints here and there. Regardless, it’s an excellent look for your ipods.

Solly – Cali Dreams from Ben Solomon on Vimeo.
Fun “California Dreamin'” Baltimore re-Interpretation. Video doesn’t really match up with the vibe of the song in my humble opinion, but the song is dope!

And today, we bring you the future! I’m so excited to introduce the world to So Shifty with their very first official release of their own original material here in the *Wine Touch Clap EP.* Everyone from Sinden to Diplo to Radioclit have been showing support to these dudes for months, and I’m so psyched this release finally came together. Featuring Ward 21’s Kunley, Tifa, Timberlee, and Natalie Storm (aka TNT) on vocal work, each of the three originals has a really unique and yet totally consumable vibe: these songs are forward-thinking yet accessible. The remixes all bang too: Them Jeans’ phenomenal Big Room House remix is absolutely massive while I provided a New Orleans Bounce remix that I think works quite well while French wunderkind Douster and the So Shifty boys round out the release with two more great remixes. Peep snippets of each song in the Youtube video above and then go cop that shit!
The OG “Wine,” and the Them Jeans Remix, are both below for y’all to download, blog, and distribute as you please. The rest of the EP can be purchased with the links below. If you blog the song, please provide links for purchase.

Official Electro remix of the excellent Sissy Nobby Bounce track “Giddy Up.” PostModern Electro isn’t really my thing (this kind’ve Electro definitely is!), but parts of this song are really dope.

When Katrina popped off, the record dork community over at Soulstrut banded together to sell rare records and donate all profits of these records to the relief efforts in New Orleans. I was really happy to take part in both the selling and purchasing of records in that auction, and we raised a significant sum of money for the folks in New Orleans (in the tens of thousands of dollars). It was a really inspiring and productive thing to be a part of, and thankfully in the wake of the Haitian Earthquakes, both Soulstrut and rival record dork website Waxidermy are doing HEATROCKS FOR HAITI auctions again. The rules are slightly different this time around, but if you like records and want to buy and/or sell any on behalf of an excellent cause, please visit either of the sites below and contribute. You’ll have to join each of the messageboards to contribute, but I’d imagine that shouldn’t be too big of a barrier to anyone who really wants to be a part of this.
Great remix from fellow Philly killers Benja Styles and Jakk frost. Future Crossfaded Bacon work coming with both of these dudes. Check Benja’s blog frequently for more great stuff. This will be featured on Benja’s steet album “A Hustler’s Dream” hosted by the mixtape king Big Mike the ruler.

Copy/Pasted directly from Chocolate Puma blog:
“Back in 1993 Strictly Rhythm released a record called ‘South Street Player – (Who?) Keeps Changing Your Mind‘. It was a song produced and performed by Roland Clarke, who you also might know from ‘ Armand van Helden’s Flowers‘.
Soon it became quite a big club hit here in The Netherlands. We both loved the record so we decided to license it for our Fresh Fruit Label. For our release we made 2 remixes: Fresh Fruit Deep and Fresh Fruit Dub. Both didn’t have much vocals in it, not because we didn’t like them, but because back then we just didn’t have the equipment to include the full vocals. In those early days our ’studio’ was very basic!
Now, 17 years later, we made a vocal edit of our Fresh Fruit Dub, so you can finally hear it how it was ment to be. Strictly Rhythm is re-releasing it on the 1st of february 2010, alongside a remix and dub by Daniel Bovie & Roy Rox.”
