Freeway “Know What I Mean”

I’m a bit late on this but eff it! Dope song, cool video, and shout out to my homie Benja Styles making a brief guest appearance up in the video! Super excited about this album. Cop the mp3 right here on Amazon or right here on iTunes. I’m all for downloading free music, but I’m also all for supporting artists who deserve your money! Give these dudes your $$ bills!!

Don’t forget to cop The Stimulus Package when it drops or even Pre-Order it now! Freeway and Jake One! I’m pretty confident this album is going to be excellent.

Lil B “I Want Your Bitch” (Prod by Emynd)

So I flew out to the Bay this summer to build with young homie Lil B the Based God (aka Lil B from The Pack aka “the Rawest Rapper Alive”) who is not only the king of Myspace (over 100 myspace pages!), but he’s also one of the nicest, most genuine, interesting, good hearted, and talented people I’ve ever met. Truly blessed to have this dude in my life. He definitely makes some eccentric music and I’m really happy to be working with dude. The first youtube posted above is a song we threw together this summer that we didn’t really get to finish up, but he went ahead and threw it on his latest mixtape 6 Kiss anyway. I ain’t mad though! It sounds kinda good even though there’s some really rough bits–kind’ve adds to the aesthetic. That being said, most of “6 Kiss” is substantially better than this track (and not quite as uhm, vulgar?). Need proof? Check the video for “Myspace” also above which is a tremendous mixtape cut. B just murders it on that ish.

But, anyway, consider this an introduction to me and homie. Hopefully we’re going to be building on a lot of stuff in the future and I’m really excited about it. He’s all over the place musically these days working with folks as disparate as Soulja Boy and Diplo on the latest Gucci tape. I’ve posted our song for download below if you’re into it, but please support the dude by copping the “6 Kiss” album on Amazon (by the way, I’m Thraxxx is also worth your money!). I’ve really never met a kid more devoted to putting out art and he really puts everything into it. There’s nobody in the world I want to succeed more than Lil B and I really encourage you to support artists like this with your hard earned cash.

Don’t forget to follow his ass on twitter!

XIB “Baltimore Bounce”

Big ups to Noz for putting me up on this ish. While Go-Go samples have turned up in many a Baltimore club track, and DC rappers haven’t been shy about rapping on Baltimore Club tracks this is certainly the most deliberate, cohesive, and successful fusion of Go-Go and Club music that have graced my tender ears. This track has two backbones–the tumbling Go-Go drums as well as a sample of Booman and Griff’s classic “Pick ‘Em Up“–while the vocals consist of re-contextualized Rap chants made into Go-Go refrains (most of which seem to be Waka Flocka lyrics and or adlibs). I have no idea how big this song is or will be in the DMV. It seems that the folks that like Go-Go and the folks that like Club music are often diametrically opposed to each other, but hopefully both groups will find this song as dope as I do. I haven’t checked the entirety of the XIB “Laugh Now Cry Later” album yet (which can be downloaded HERE), but they’ve posted it for free and am planning on checking it shortly. In the mean time, enjoy this song!

DJ Riz @ The Bounce this Friday!

THE BOUNCE w/ Emynd & Bo Bliz
and Special Guest DJ RIZ (Crooklyn Clan, NYC)
@ The Barbary (Frankford & Girard)
Open Bar 9-11
$5 Cover

It is really going down this Friday in Philly, folks. Not only is this going to be Bo Bliz and Reef the Lost Cauze’s birthdy party, but we are also really proud to be bringing y’all one of the most legendary party rocking DJs of the past two decades to rock with us at THE BOUNCE.

While many of you may not have heard of DJ Riz by name, you are most certainly familiar with the dozens of tracks he’s had his hands involved with that are played at nearly every club across the world on a nightly basis. My dude even has a platinum plaque for the ubiquitous anthem “Be Faithful” (“All the chicken heads, BE QUIET! All the chicken heads, BE QUIET!”) He currently tours the globe playing at mega parties all over the damn place: from his home-base NYC to Vegas to Miami to Ibiza and is also the official DJ of the NFL (which I think means he gets to DJ at the Superbowl hah!). But, don’t be fooled. This dude is most certainly NOT coming to play Lady Gaga records all night. Dude is a tried and true hip-hop party-rocking DJ who has played alongside everyone from Jazzy Jeff to Funkmaster Flex to Stretch Armstrong. When we approached him about rocking the Bounce with us, he jumped at the chance to “play a real party in Philly instead of all the commercial shit.” Truth be told, we’ve already got bus loads of folks making their way down from Boston and up from Baltimore to check this shit out, so please don’t miss out– this should be a Bounce to remember!

As if that ain’t enough on its own, we still got that open bar from 9 to 11 sponsored by Philly’s best skateshop EXIT PHILADELPHIA and the $5 cover doesn’t even kick in until 10 PM. Start 2010 off on the right foot and get drunk for cheap and party with the best DJs in the motherfucking city.

Please don’t miss this shit, folks. This will surely be a party to remember!

And don’t forget to wish Bliz and Reef happy birthdays.

Let’s get it!

Brother Reade *DRAMA EP* Available NOW!

Today, December 22nd marks the release date of Crossfaded Bacon’s newest release, *THE DRAMA EP* by North-Carolinian-turned -LA-Transplants BROTHER READE. I’ve posted a promo youtube above with a snippet of each song (and click after the jump to peep full length Youtubes videos of each song) but this is the first of many Hip-Hop releases soon to come on CFB. As usual, genre-limitations are busted open on this release as the production infuses elements and influences as far reaching as Dub Step, traditional Southern Rap, Big Room House, and that True School Boom Bap Rap while vocalist Jams F. Kennedy weaves his way through each beat. Featuring remixes by Emynd, Scott Matelic, and new CFB signee Them Jeans, we’re all really excited about this EP.

Today, we’re sharing Brother Reade’s original “Southern Boy” mix as well as Emynd’s “Southern Man Remix” and we invite you to blog and distribute these two songs freely.

Lazy Jay x Busy Signal (Emynd Blend)

I know Dutch House is the new Blog House, but I eff it, I like some of this stuff. Threw Busy Signal on top of Lazy Jay’s “Float My Boat” and I think it sounds pretty dope.

Lil Boosie ft Young Jeezy & Webbie “Better Believe It (Emynd Bmore Edit)”

A quick Bmore edit of Lil Boosie’s fantastic single with Jeezy and Webbie. Pretty minimal. No major chops, just some “dick beat” kicks, stuttering claps, the think break and some “Samir’s Theme” type horns. It’s good as a transition into up-tempo shit or just a fun way to pick the energy up a bit. Hope y’all enjoy it.

Mike 2600 *READY TO ROCK EP* Available Now!

Today marks the release date of another fantastic release on our lil’ ol’ label here at Crossfaded Bacon HQ. This time we’re taking it back to them Old School Disco Party Breaks with Mike 2600’s *READY TO ROCK EP*. Mike himself created the hilarious and fun Promo video above of the title track on the EP, and I think it gives you a great indication of what this EP is all about with its Old School party vibes and editing. As you’ll notice quickly, each of the original songs on *Ready To Rock* are very clearly inspired by the innovative cut & paste mixes of Double Dee & Steinski, the Disco Rap aesthetic embodied by labels like West End and Enjoy Records, the spaced-out disco sounds of Cloud One, and even the raw sounds of ’60s garage and psych rock. If you didn’t already know, Mike 2600 is already a well known figure amongst some of the world’s biggest DJs (organizing the annual DO IT TO IT party at SXSW and helps compile the accompanying vinyl EP featuring remixes from DJs like Tittsworth, Dave Nada from Nadastrom, Crossfaded Bacon’s Emynd, and Bird Peterson) this is his first official solo release. Accompanied by exclusive remixes from CFB boys Emynd and Scott Matelic, we’re really proud to introduce Mike 2600 to the rest of the world with another CFB release that will sound fresh whether played today, tomorrow, next year, or next decade. Oh and don’t forget to follow him on Twitter.

As a gift to y’all today, you can download Mike’s original *Gigolo Rhythm* and Scott Matelic’s Remix below. Feel free to blog these boys or hit us with comments!
