Hot damn, CFB is really starting 2010 off massive! A couple weeks ago we dropped the smash So Shifty *Wine Touch Clap* EP that has everyone from Diplo to Sinden singing its praises and next Tuesday, we got the tallest man in the scene Them Jeans amazing excursion into Big Room House territory with his *Beef EP*. These two releases are my favorite to grace the CFB landscape but before we spill the beans with snippets of the new Them Jeans release, let’s make sure you’re all caught up on the gems the man has blessed us with up to this point.

Beyonce “Video Phone” (Emynd Bounce Remix)
A couple months back, my folks at Unruly Records were asked to get some remixes of “Video Phone” together. They shouted at me to get one together and I thought the jawn would sound cool sped up to Bounce speed. I didn’t want to use any samples in the remix, so that’s why the drums don’t have the authentic “Drag Rap” or “Brown Beat” sounds, but I think it’s a fun remix nonetheless. Additionally, this remix is a bit a interpolation of the classic Bounce joint by Big Daddie and Bossman’s “Ya Heard Me Part 2” which I’ve also posted below. You should be able to hear the similarities when you listen to both. Hope you enjoy!

Ted Smooth Remixes
If you’re not up on the homie Ted Smooth and his remixes, you need to be. He fairly routinely takes an already popping club song and gives it some classic NY flavor. Definitely useful in certain situations. His whole library of downloads is up in the link below. My favorites are the “Daddy’s Home” remix with a couple verses from Jadakiss, the already classic “Blame It” remix with the “Down for My Ni**az” horns, and a great Dirty Money “Angels” remix. And today, we bring you the future! I’m so excited to introduce the world to So Shifty with their very first official release of their own original material here in the *Wine Touch Clap EP.* Everyone from Sinden to Diplo to Radioclit have been showing support to these dudes for months, and I’m so psyched this release finally came together. Featuring Ward 21’s Kunley, Tifa, Timberlee, and Natalie Storm (aka TNT) on vocal work, each of the three originals has a really unique and yet totally consumable vibe: these songs are forward-thinking yet accessible. The remixes all bang too: Them Jeans’ phenomenal Big Room House remix is absolutely massive while I provided a New Orleans Bounce remix that I think works quite well while French wunderkind Douster and the So Shifty boys round out the release with two more great remixes. Some philly party ish that doesn’t sound like some regular philly part ish.
[Emynd Edit]: Just added some info above about the rappers in this song. Apparently the Weirdos is Steezy, Mont Brown, and my dog the originator of this “weirdo” shit in Philly, Daddy O (who I’m currently trying to get some work done with). And the dude Pace-O on the simple but crazy beat. I’m really into this song and it’s gaining some steam on Philly radio thanks to Cosmic Kev blasting it on the Come Up show. The thing that’s interesting about this song is that it’s kinda on some faux-Hyphy shit–which is fairly strange since Philly does NOT have a close connection with Bay area rap. I first heard Daddy O about a year ago and he reminded me of a Philly E-40, but I thought it was more a matter of coincidence. Now I’m curious about how deliberate this Hyphy link is, especially with respect to the “dumb,” “stupid,” and “retarded bus” references throughout this song. Anyway, Daddy O is without a doubt one of the most exciting rappers in Philly as far as I’m concerned. Instead of sounding like Jadakiss or Beans like most Philly rappers (often refered to as “Beanie Babies” which is the best term ever), he’s totally carved out his own unique sound. And perhaps what’s most surpising is that folks in Philly are actually ACCEPTING him on his own terms. Shit, dude raps about working at Walmart (which apparently he really does haha) and other random “weird” ish that is often pretty much a no-no in ‘hood circles. Even a conservative ‘hood traditionalist rapper like Oschino is shouting him out(9:10).
If I was betting on any one Philly rapper to make it big time, I’d put my money on Daddy O. Anyway, hopefully I’ma have some material with homie real soon. [/End Emynd Edit]
