Hooked up an extended intro of the new Chris Brown jawn with Wayne produced by Swizzy. A really fucking good song as far as I’m concerned! Another Fake 320 ’cause I made this edit out of a 192 mp3.
I slept on this for the past two weeks, but never no more. Excellent Aidonia mix from Federation family Kenny Meez and Max Glazer for free download. Shit is really dope. Cop it below. Keep in mind we got Kenny Meez playing at The Bounce first friday of November as well. Super psyched.
This James Royal record is one of my favorite funk/soul songs but I can’t say I have any real idea why I love this record so much. I guess it’s just because the horns are dope as fuck, drums are mixed well, and I strangely really love the feel of the vocals. Used to play this song in opening sets all the time and I’m psyched I ripped it to start rocking it again. I also posted Tony Newman’s “Soul Thing” which is fundamentally an instrumental version of “House of Jack” with an organ playing the vocal melody. Love both of these songs. Hope you guys enjoy em too.
Classic Trenton shit produced by the late, great Tony D. RIP. Big ups to Noz from CB Rap for putting me onto this record. Ripped the OG version and the “Project Mix” from the 12″.
First of all, sorry for these two pics. They are DISGUSTING. Theyre both weirding me the fuck out but they were both way too bizaare to not post.
Anyway, on to the music: first heard this song with Wayne on it, then I got emailed a version with Gucci. Both versions are cool except for the presence of Omarion so I cut his bitch ass out and put the Wayne and Gucci versions together to piss off girls. Enjoy.
This is a fake 320 because I made it out of two 192 MP3s (hey dont bitch at me, that’s all that’s available online) but I made this shit 320 so the quality wouldnt be even MORE shitty.
I don’t think this ever made its way onto anything official so I ripped it from a Killer Kuts 12″ I have. It’s a really fucking dope track. Foxy does her thing on it and Just Blaze (I think) kills the beat. Usually super obvious samples like this don’t work well, but this shit totally knocks. Additionally, I made a drum edit of the original Jimi Hendrix track to knock in the clubs. Just looped up some open drums from the Foxy track and produced around the Hendrix song. I think it’s pretty dope and should work well in the clubs for the right crowd (it goes in my “Rock Dance” folder in Serato). Thoughts and comments always appreciated.
Real life rap shit. No hooks, just rapping on a fucking hot beat. Don’t let anyone try and tell you Freeway forgot how to rap. And Jakk Frost is going in, too. Dont know who the other dudes are but they do their thing too.
Paying respects to Pac who’s life we celebrate on the anniversary of his death, 9/13. Below I’ve posted the classic Zapp track that was sampled for Pac’s classic “Keep Your Head Up.”
Really dope EP for my main man Raziek from the mean streets of Montpellier. Go to the Top Billin Store IMMEDIATELY to cop the whole EP with my remix as well as a Top Billin remix and, of course, the excellent original. The EP will be available at Beatport and various other digital locations in a week or so, but we really appreciate you guys supporting the advanced release directly at the Top Billin Store. Also, don’t forget to hit up Discobelle for Raziek’s new mix.
Really psyched to be involved with this release and I’m also really happy with my track. Shit’s been a monster for me in the club the past few months. Hope you guys enjoy it and thanks for supporting!
Again, hoping to add to the scope of the material covered on this blog, I’m introducing a series called Weird Wednesdays that’s going to allow me to post whatever fucking random song I want (regardless if it’s really weird or not) on any given Wednesday. I’m starting this shit off with an absolutely grooving slow funk jam “Losalamitoslatinfunklovesong” from Gene Harris’s incredible album “Astral Signal.” Check the youtube above and if you fucks with it, download it below.
I’m not entirely sure why, but I’ve recently had the pleasure of rediscovering a shitload of True School rap songs that dominated my teenage years over the past couple weeks. Every Tuesday, I’m going to try and share some of my favorites from the era. Most of these songs will be pretty obvious to anyone that grew up around this time, but as the world becomes increasingly digitized, it’s easy to lose track of stuff. Hopefully this will help remedy that loss.
And starting TRUE SCHOOL TUESDAYS off proper, I chose to hit y’all off with what is strangely one of my favorite beats of all time: Buckwild’s “Masta IC” for Mic Geronimo. Geronimo is a capable MC that had a couple solid albums, but he’s not really anything spectacular on the ‘phone. Just a solid rapper who doesn’t ruin beats. But there’s just something about this beat that I’ve always found really powerful even though it’s melodically fairly understated–just a rolling xylophone line and some heavy sub bass with a boombap breakbeat as the backbone. Buckwild has always been more than competent at constructing really full sounding production with a simple sample, filtered bassline, and a break.
